Re: (C&C) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here
Thank you very much for that link, Akzali! (I don't know how to properly quote yet, sorry). I think my idea may actually be realistically feasible within my conworld, now. Much appreciated!

Which do you prefer for your world: low tech or higher tech?
My own tentatively developing world has pre-industrial tech. It's not exactly fantasy, as it is almost completely adherent to the known laws of physics. Is your world's tech roughly on the same level, or is it more advanced? And why, specifically, do you like that tech level?

Could a roughly semi-circular mountain range naturally form? I think the Carpathian mountain chain is kinda sorta semi-circular...but I would like the one in my world to be more so. If it were, would it be naturally possible? And how/how not?

Help with assimilation-ish stuff
I was wondering if it would be realistic for a conlang that has no individually-occurring voiced stops to have voiceless stops become voiced when immediately following other voiced consonants (such as nasals, laterals, trills). Also, if it would be realistic to do that, could I get away with leaving...

How do certain languages affect one's thinking?
I'm familiar with the idea of languages affecting the way one thinks because of their differing grammars, which are more or less analytical/specific or ambiguous. What I'd like to know (as I only know basic Spanish) is what languages are more conducive to detailed, specific thinking than English is ...

I was thinking around 300 to 700 sq miles...that may be a bit unrealistically big, now that I think about it--unless it were created by one or two super volcanoes, maybe.Lodhas wrote: How large are you thinking?

Case ambiguity?
Hi. I'm currently working on the grammar of my first (hopefully) long-lasting conlang and I'm trying to give it two cases: nominative and accusative. In trying to decide on the inflection of the accusative, I've run into a dilemma: I'm not sure if I should make it a single consonant that would be ad...

Re: Ríhannen Language
Me gusta! This conlang is lovely to read aloud! But may I ask, out of curiosity, why /b/ is not a phoneme in this language when /g/ and /d/ are?

Voiced stops and unvoiced, unaspirated stops?
I can't hear a clear difference between the two. Maybe it's because i'm a native English speaker and I thus aspirate all my voiceless stops. Anyway, I want to know if any of you users can hear a conspicuous difference between the two, as i'm trying to decide on whether I should make voiced stops pho...

Are your main conpeople human or of a different species?
I feel like I'm one of the few users of this website to have created non-human conpeople as the focus of his conworld. Does anybody else have conpeople who are of a different species? If so, what are they like (in appearance and mindset/intelligence)?

What theme does your conworld have?
I'm curious as to how many conworlders have sci fi, fantasy, steampunk etc. themed worlds. As for my own world, I'm thinking about giving it a realistic fantasy theme or a science fiction theme that's slightly more nature-oriented. So, who wants to share their world's theme/feel?

Re: Favorite Phoneme!
Compared to others who have posted on this subject, I have a pretty plain taste. My favorite phonemes are /r/, /l/, /k/ and a voiceless labialzed velar plosive. They're unexotic, but very clear and bright-sounding to me. I don't think anybody could not like those phonemes.
