Re: Non-pulmonic consonants
I personally like the sound of stop ejectives (fricatives and affricates not so much) Of my main conlangs (as in, the one I developped further than phonologic sketches) Nictian has a three-way distinction between stops: unvoiced, aspirated, and ejective/glottalized (in normal speech I set for a gemi...

Re: Language evolution simulator
I don't know if you did it on purpose, but you lack implosives. I considered implosive being classified same as ejectives, mostly for simplification of the process. I would consider to, instead of having a list of sounds, to instead have each sound be represented by a selection of choices. E.g. ins...

Language evolution simulator
Greetings everyone, Recently I've been trying to work on a language evolution simulation program, and I've been considering what sounds to include in it. For my sanity, I've tried to find a balance between completeness and size. I came with an inventory to work with, and I'd like feedback. Is this s...

I finished reworking the declensions of my conlang Fa, with its heavy and exotic system of consonant mutations.

I'm relauching the thread, and precising some points on how it was supposed to work: This is not a suggestion/voting thread Anybody can throw any idea and this idea become part of the language (without voting or such) Current state of the language Phonetic inventory: /pʰ tʰ kʰ/ Fortis stops /p t k/ ...

Re: Collaborative language family
Seems like a good proposal. This gives a regular plural marker /-ʜ/ that also retracts the preceeding front vowels.k1234567890y wrote:proposal of the pronouns:

You described exactly what I intended, but I think I didn't explain it correctly since people assumed it was suggestion/voting based.

Re: Collaborative (diachronic) conlanging?
I had started such a project of diachronic conlanging, but it died quickly unfortunately.

Re: Help me with diachronic decisions
Actually, the idea for this topic was that I would apply suggested mutations as they came, not just use this as an idea dump.

That's funny, those are ideas I had in mind too.Nachtuil wrote:/g/ to /ɣ/ intervocalicly
/G/ to /ʁ/intervocalicly
merge /g/ and /G/ to /g/ otherwise
Do you think the voiced codas (l and n) should be considered for "intervocalic"?

Help me with diachronic decisions
As an attempt to bring a more "natural" feel to a conlang, I'd like to mix in mutations and changes idea from other people. Alone I noticed I tend to always use the variants of the same phonetic mutations, so I hope to get more variations in that by asking a forum. So here's the proto-lang...

Re: Collaborative language family
I'm always partial to low-to-no cases (NOM and OBL, or maybe NOM, ACC and GEN, something simple like that) as well as only distinguishing singular and plural (or perhaps neither). As far as gender/classes, perhaps an animacy hierarchy? That would be nice and interesting to work with. Well, as I sta...

Re: Collaborative language family
I suggest to go in order and not just throw random idea, it would be hard to sort that eventually.
The next target to tackle would be nouns, how does the language manages gender, number and functions.

What do you mean when you write [C/F/S] ?
Seems like a good structure otherwise, and the harmony ladder is a good idea.

Re: Collaborative language family
In theory the plan was that each of the element of the list are made by somebody else and used as it is suggested. But since it already got started for the phonetics we'll take what's been made. The final inventory will be /pʰ tʰ kʰ/ Fortis stops /p t k/ Lenis stops /(t)s (t)ɬ k(x) (k)ʟ̝̊ ħ h/ Frica...

Re: [Interest Check] Collaborative language family
If one feels inspired, they are free to post a consonant inventory for this proto-language, there is no restriction for what to use.
