Re: A Shattered World
You've done a good job at making the world feel both alive and hollow. At least I think so.

Re: Analysis Swap: Kateba
Danté speaks into the translator tentatively. "It is good hunting today? This is a thing that can speak for us, since I do not understand your words." The translator screen shows symbols you do not understand. The people in front of you seem to understand, though they appear a bit shocked...

Analysis Swap: Kateba
Here we go: Through whichever means you best decide, you arrive at the edge of a forest. Standing there is a man wearing a... mad scientist Halloween costume? He smiles as you approach. "Oh! Sorry if I'm interrupting, but I need to give you this." He puts a strange device in your hand. &qu...

Re: Analysis Swap?
Ok... I read the threads... First of all awesome idea, second of all may I join? This seems more like a storytelling adventure thread than an organized game but I figured I'd ask.
(Also probably the only way I'll reliably make new words.)

Update:
Sickness and errands have kept me out of the loop for over a week now. I've currently completed a bit over a third of the translation. Nevertheless, progress continues.

If I had time/more than a few words in Katebá I'd join.

Uh... looks like it's been a bit... If you feel like continuing... Is /r/ present in the original Latin word? i.e gar- , gār- ? [tick] [cross] [cross] Is it related to galērum ? Is it derived from galea? Does mamboi derive from a single Latin word? [cross] Is it divided as mam-boi? Do both parts com...

I love this idea.
So, 44c17076b4fd42422099a9fd
means, "my branch is fine (dismissive)"? Obviously very silly but this idea is too cool not to play around with.
Also, can you use -f- with plural nouns?

The above makes little sense for humans as our backs don't face skyward. For a second there i was wondering why you would say that then i remembered you aren't a yinrih. On the internet nobody knows you're a monkey fox :) So that's where all these brilliant ideas are coming from! [xD] I don't know ...

I would have quoted Salmoneus' post itself, but any quote I could have come up with would be a disservice to this absolute goldmine.Arayaz, in Salmoneus' werewolf thread wrote: ↑05 Jan 2024 20:51 When I saw the title I thought "...is Salmoneus trolling?"
Now I think "what the fuck" ...

An oldie but goodie I just found: You're going to write in your conlang? Cool. I'm going to write in mine too, which might have to do with why I'm ending up with a bunch of low-frequency words when I don't yet have words for "one" or "blue"... If you make a dedicated thread for ...

Tense: Tense is typically marked with time constructions (tomorrow, already, when I get back, etc.). However when no time constructions are used, -jadi is used to mark past tense. This is also used if a time construction is unclear on whether the time indicated is future or past. The only way to sp...

Hmmm...
I was thinking perhaps s/z would be pronounced as sʲ/zʲ... perhaps that could cause some allophony...
Something like: ɑ/ə -> ɐ/ɪ ?
I definitely could see stops undergoing labializatian before ə, but I'm not sure that would change anything.
