Re: Other Creativity
Last week I made a little space horror gamejam game called You Will Return . It's about space explorers who return to their home planet after thousands of years, only to find the place completely barren. The only remaining structure is an underground vault whose walls and floor are covered in the sy...

I've decided to use <ts> for /ts/ (instead of <z>) and <ien> for /jɛn/ instead of <ian>. Note sure about the fate of /ʒ/. Basic numbers in Imperial and Cave Creole: 1: 一 yi /ji/ >>> hin /hin/ 2: 二 wen /wən/ >>> vinn /vɪn/ 3: 三 san /san/ >>> san /san/ 4: 四 tsen /tsən/ >>> stinn /stɪn/ 5: 五 wu /wu/ --...

Re: Imperial & Cave Creole
It is quite Chinese, but the vowels are sufficiently different and the absence of the retroflex sibilants helps to make it feel a little different. Yeah, but I'm worried that in the game it will only appear romanized, so those nuances would be lost. I might have to lean more heavily into romanizing...

Imperial & Cave Creole
As a little side-project to a video game I'm working on, I want to sketch out two conlangs so that I can use their phonotactics when naming characters and locations. The first is a language called Imperial that is loosely inspired by Chinese, and the second I'm imagining as a pidgin/creole used by c...

Thanks! At the moment, no, it's for Windows, Mac and Linux. We also have plans for mobile, but we just don't have the time/money for that as of yet.

Games count as creativity, right? I'm making a turn-based strategy game about global warming. We haven't done a lot of worldbuilding yet, so unfortunately I haven't been able to flex my conworlding muscles in that respect. The vibe is a bit alt-history "what if World War 1 lasted through to tod...

Re: What did you accomplish today?
Despite promising myself I would work on Maran by hand, I dove back into my Haskell+Latex project, adapted it for Maran and wrote some new code to generate nice little standalone conjugation tables. Input: telOH (v) 'carry, bring' iia: telOH telEIs telEI telom telete telen apa: telson telsas telsa t...

Re: Maran, a small greeklang with portuguese and english influences
1 - I saw how your copulæ have /μ/ for both 1Pl and 3PL, which looks and feels like a def :por: influence . Is there a reason why the 'regular' verb conjugation has /ν/ for the 3PL, and not a /μ/ as well? Because I came up with the copulae after I wrote down the regular verbs. [xP] I guess 3PL is a...

Re: Maran, a small greeklang with portuguese and english influences
If I might ask, what variety of Greek is Maran descended from? What is the etymology of its name? [...] If possible, could we see the sound changes leading to Maran? What happened to the letters <γ θ υ>? Are they not even used in etymological spellings? Maran is an a priori language inspired by anc...

Re: Maran, a small greeklang with portuguese and english influences
I don't know yet.Are the nouns always regular?
Because the declension tables for nouns are so small (only four forms), I imagine they will all turn out regular in the sense that they can be grouped based on gender and sg. nom. ending. But I might add an ablaut somewhere.

Maran, a small greeklang with portuguese and english influences
Maran is a small a priori greeklang I've been scribbling down over the past couple of weekends. It is a bit of a reboot of Kerdos, where I focussed mostly on programmatically generating diachronics and dictionaries; although I liked the programming exercise and the neat pdfs it generated, it left th...

Re: What did you accomplish today?
Thanks! The two sound changes I kept from my experiment with a portuguese-inspired greeklang are /m/,/l/,/r/ > [w] in coda positions and /tə/ > [tʃ] everywhere, so I'm happy they show off well in 1PL and 2PL.

Re: What did you accomplish today?
Lately I've been working on a smaller greeklang using just pen and paper. Today I have worked out some regular verb conjugations: Conjugations of τελω ( to carry, to bring ) and other regular verbs whose root end in -λ , -ρ or -ν : Present tense: τελω ['tɛlu] τελεις ['tɛlɛɪs] τελει ['tɛlɛɪ] τελομ ['...
