Re: The Conculture/Conpeople Opinions Thread
Since there doesn't seem to be a next question currently, I'll add one myself: what your conpeople think of transexuality?

Re: Other Creativity
Warning: This has nothing to do with conlanging, conworlding, linguistics, or anything remotely interesting like that. I don't know where this came from. I have no justification for this. At all. I just... I was lying on a couch, meditating, and I could have sworn I heard a voice whisper into my mi...

Re: What did you accomplish today?
It is a way to say relax, you're right indeed. But Relaxing never quite solves the issues he's on about because it will always come back again! Which is why I gathered it was more of a psycho-physical issue. What goes in the mind also affects in the body and vice versa. And Chakras are just as real...

Re: What did you accomplish today?
Sounds like you're overusing the expression/creative centers in your body they just need to rest and lie down, thus the headache and the temporary loss of the ability to articulate yourself. Yes, I'm talking about prana and chakras, the 3rd Eye and the Throat in particular. Sleeping works because i...

Re: RIP, Oh Dead Conlang
I guess this was my 'first' conlang - if you can call it a conlang. I used diacritics in the most inefficient way. I used the English alphabet with extra characters. :yimheś ȫ fitæs ye kithenǵ fem. [ʝımhɛsr o fitæs yɛ kıθɛŋr fɛm] Alright, following everyone's example, I'll revise the orthography. ʝ...

I'm reviving this thread for 2 reasons:
1: Using Gulahalan through google translate is tedious, and
2: YOU STILL OWE ME MY TRANSLATION OF GAVPOT, DAMMIT!

Re: What theme does your conworld have?
My, still largely undeveloped conworld is an habitable moon orbiting a gas giant (HD 28185b). The dominant civilization is a collection of matriarchal queendoms under the loose overlordship of a rather militant church-like body (the Oefefaāei). The local religion is maltheist : the Great Goddess, T...

I just got Mass Effect 1 ( WHAT? ), and I'm damned impressed. I love how much effort is put into making the more implausible aspects of the universe make sense (although words cannot express my loathing for the asari). Hell, even the technobabble is usually done correctly. It's refreshing to see a g...

Re: Changes and evolution in the conlanging community
It seemed to still be a fairly pleasant place when I left it, but I haven't gone back since. Maybe the fact that it was a larger board had something to do with the change: more exposure to Sturgeon's Law might have made some forumgoers jaded and irritable.

Re: How NOT to Conworld.
Another conworlding trope that makes me want to burn the world is when a species is played up as being simply better than us morally. Elves are by far the worst offenders, but sci-fi is riddled with them as well. It's bad enough if their superiority is based on something we can all agree with, e.g n...
