Re: Info-Dumping and ADHD
Interestingly, a few months ago I did a YouTube query for "infodump" because I wanted to read people's thoughts on infodumping in fiction, and I came across the video of an ADDer explaining how ADDers often infodump; I learned a new meaning of the word. Further searches reveal that the &qu...

Re: What kind of conlanger are you?
Former . Language inventors who, for whatever reason, have either consciously set aside or unconsciously lost interest in the art. There was a time, from 1999 to 2002, when I wasn't doing any conlanging, nor conworlding. But I wouldn't call myself former. How about nonlanger : a non-conlanger who h...

I'm not a loyalist. Aside from Kankonian, I have many other Leholangs that I've been working on, often for decades: Shaleyan, Ciladian, Hapoish, Cetonian, Palang, Javarti, Tentan, Quispe, Achel, Ampwanitz, Bodusian, Hitan, Kolothan, a bit of Deksadian, and probably some other Leholangs whose names ...

Here's a quirk of German that I had no idea existed until Iyionaku confused me by carrying it over to English: See https://cbbforum.com/viewtopic.php?p=299162#p299162 In English you say: Before Jack has drunk at least three glasses of coffee in the morning, you cannot use him for any heavy work as h...

Re: Are you a hunter-gatherer or a farmer?
Well, I don't have the 1,000 YouTube subscribers I'm hoping for yet -- "only" 241 so far. And my songs aren't getting played on the radio either. My ideas have yet to change the world. No one's ever performed my play "The Bittersweet Generation", nor made it into a movie. So I'm...

How about nonlanger: a non-conlanger who hangs out with conlangers. Janko Gorenc is perhaps the most famous nonlanger.

I was going off of the Australian traditional orthography, where /ɻ ɾ/ are <r rr>. However, in this case you'll probably have to explain it either way, since as far as I know this is a rare problem. My Quispe has both /ɾ/ and /r/, and I copy the Spanish convention, whereby /ɾ/ is R and /r/ is RR. E...

There's a thread for that . . .eldin raigmore wrote: ↑29 May 2024 19:45 I just now figured out that, on this thread,
SCA stands for Sound Change Applier,
not for Society for Creative Anachronism.
But for that, I would have no accomplishment to report!

That said, the distinction between /ɾ/ and /ɹ/ is not at all problematic. I'm pretty sure a majority of Australian languages distinguish /ɾ/ and /ɻ/, which suggests that it's not at all difficult to distinguish two rhotic consonants. And, lest anyone forget, Spanish distinguishes /ɾ/ vs. /r/. The p...

Why do you capitalize every word (you put German to shame)? How will you distinguish words beginning with g from words beginning with G?

Re: A small thought regarding werewolves: Sherlock Holmes as The Terminator
what's the difference... Bisexual people may or may not be cisgender, but we're all attracted to both males and females. Bigender people may or may not be monosexual, but they feel some male in them and some female in them. Yeah—though nothing is necessarily stopping us from liking nonbinary people...

Rock music does occasionally rhyme an accented syllable with an unaccented one. Consider Pink: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NJWIbIe0N90 Until we meet again (Meet again) Until we, until we meet again And I won't forget you, my friend What happened? Or SHAED: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zzylc-7...
