Hmm, a replacer is a filler-scrapper? Sounds a bit like me.
Another type that's a mix of filler and scrapper is the remapper!

Ah, if it's like the Ship of Theseus, that sounds like a perfectionist.

Re: Arayaz's thread so that she doesn't flood the forum

I'm more of a perfectionist or whatever that's called in Khemehekis's typology. I scrapped Abaniscen multiple times and remade it, and the only thing the versions have in common is a single syntactical feature. And doing that actually helped me make "better" conlangs later. So maybe it's ...

Today I created the ya ya nang, a red flower of Chatony that grows on graves, Chatony being where the nila bioswath (Dorsals) live. It's my first non-animal creation for that planet and bioswath. I needed the word to provide an etymon for "vulture", as in one who profits from another's/ot...

Re: Arayaz's thread so that she doesn't flood the forum

Just wow. I'm going to repeat what I, as an anthropologist of scrappers and other conlanging types, said in March: It's in the nature of the scrapper to find that one fatal flaw with each of his/her languages, be it a logistical, proof-of-concept, or strictly aesthetic flaw. Maybe Ruykkarraber can b...

Re: Lexicon milestones and discussion of lexicon growth

Just realized that I reached word #90,210 -- as in Beverly Hills! The word was blumia , meaning "bindery, bookbindery". Blum is a verb meaning "to bind", like binding books, and -ia is a suffix for place words, including Kankonia itself (unlike the Indo-European suffix -ia, thoug...

Re: Hi'im conlang

So this is the Hi'im conlang thread, or "Hi, I'm a conlang!" Cool how you make you many words with so few roots. I like this part. Word order as the distinguishing factor between an active participle and a passive participle. That sounds like a good use of syntax in conlanging, unique yet ...

My conlang, Hi'im, just reached 50 words! 50th word is ten̆ /teŋ/, which means "world". Heh, I remember when I first saw the title of your Hi'im thread. I misread it as "Hi, I'm a conlang!" Surprised ten̆ is the fiftieth word and not the ten th word. Anyway, congratulations. It ...

Re: False friends and other unfortunate coincidences

Here's a completely coincidental conlang false friend. The word for "parents" in Kankonian is homoses . Presumably this is related to helemas (mother) and hoimas (father). That word has been in the language for decades. Its excerptal form, meaning "parent", is homoset , which mak...

Just finished my long haul through the A-words in my friend's corpus. I ended up adding 1,582 new Kankonian words, as I went from having 87,780 to having 89,362. Definitely worth it.

Doing B-words should get me past the 90,000 mark!

Re: Lexicon milestones and discussion of lexicon growth

Spiders, Vosem Chart users, pianists, and Thomas Jefferson rejoice: I have just reached word #88,888 in Kankonian! My word was shuyeslavambio , meaning "architexture". It comes from shuyes (across) and lavambio (work, as in a work of art), since an architexture is a theme that spans an art...
