You'll have a new one when you return then!
This one seemed longer in physical form. Ah, well.

Re: In the Wake of Vultures.
Just a short one here. I actually have a few other scenes I'm trying to get fleshed out properly* but one or two should be ready within a week or so.
*From a lore perspective; my writing could clearly still use some work.

All right, now with actual flag colors! https://imgur.com/a/kjFIC (Red and green from Bangladesh, dark blue from Finland, light blue from Botswana, and purple from Dominica.) I particularly like the one with the white circle, and the vertically striped one; not normally a fan of that shade of purpl...

Re: Random Conworld idea thread
By the way, if you want an idea of what an Aspectual Soul is capable of, this is pretty much the best example. That's a Heavenborn (who somehow has six arms) fighting an Aspectual Soul right there. I know this is totally besides the point you're making, but it seems to me that game's got too much s...

Hah! My mate's daughter's a budding metal head too. She was moshing to Lamb of God before she could stand unaided. (Weird to think he has a kid that can walk and talk now.)

Maybe I'll alternate depending on the emotional state of the narrator.shimobaatar wrote:I personally don't think it's either good or bad, really. The style of writing's different, certainly, but I enjoyed this second installment just as much as the first.

Re: What did you accomplish today?
Well, I suppose I have accomplished something: I definitively decided that whole word reduplication would indicate the perfect aspect. This is something Vrkhazhian and Khettas have in common then (technically only stem reduplication in Khettas), though Khettas also uses it for the continuous aspect...

Re: In the Wake of Vultures.
I think I'm going to keep adding the scenes to the first post in roughly chronological order, and I'll put the previously posted entries in spoiler tags to highlight which is the new one.
My prose is decidedly less poetic here. Good thing, or bad?

Re: Gay marriage, polygamy, etc.
A friend of mine had the interesting situation a year or so ago when he discovered he was attracted to a woman after years of believing he was exclusively attracted to men. He had a minor identity crisis over it that I found really difficult to understand, and considered himself straight for all of ...

The Maxna in my conworld do this with datura, henbane and mandrake, Shemtov. They all have hallucinogenic effects of their own, and the chemicals can be released into smoke from their burning.

Re: Gay marriage, polygamy, etc.
Honestly, Squall, there's no hard and fast rule to it; frankly, if you didn't intend to insult anyone, I don't think anyone will care all that much.
Sal, you've raised a few good points I haven't considered at all for my conworld. I think something more nuanced is in order now.

Re: Tales From the Divine Plane
I'd personally focus on writing skills first; while this advice is somewhat antithetical to my love of great story or character, authors like Stephen King have managed to get me to read reams worth of boring, mundane activities simply because of his way with words. (Not to say King isn't also a good...

They seem logical.
Did you have much trouble getting the polar caps to move in a manner that didn't mess with your head? I had to keep switching back to a three dimensional projection to make sure I was getting it right: nightmare.

Re: Tales From the Divine Plane
Unless you're publishing with a vanity press (or self-publishing), you have to exhibit the bare minimum of competence to actually get your work out. You would be surprised. Mary was unhappy. "I'm not happy," she said. Samuel could see his mother was unhappy. "I can see you're not hap...

Re: Names
Maxna (diachronically derived name still pending) have a clan name, one or two given names, and a sept name, in that order. The clan name is fairly self explanatory, often deriving from the given name of some largely fictional, totemic patriarch claimed to have formed the clan. The given names are o...

Re: In the Wake of Vultures.
I basically copied Micamo's formatting; given I'm already stealing her idea, I might as well go whole hog. :P On reflection, I think I may have waxed a little purple in the prose... and all those typos. Oh my. Well, it's still a new scene; much proof reading shall ensue. There. I think that's better.

In the Wake of Vultures.
So, this is likely to be patchwork and devoid of much necessary context, but herein shall be various scenes intended for my ever talked of but never evidenced book. Frankly, I have no idea how I should format this, given I can't use indents, but we'll see how it goes. The Forest. To be perfectly hon...
