Re: Romlangs

So... could anyone successfully preserve the neuter in his/her romlang? I try to do that for a few words (not more than 100, among them lo latte , milk), at least for the conservative Buonavalle-dialect until the Middle Ages. Neuters in - VS , however, will become masculine, with the oblique sg. en...

Re: Romlangs

I've been making an almost artlang sort of Romlang called Niijerj. Although predominately Romance (Particularly with comparisons to French) it also has a big Germanic influence which can be found in many nouns and nearly all verbs in the -en conjugation. The future and conditional tenses are still in...

Can anyone on this site speak fluent Standard Arabic?

I'm currently making a transcription for Arabic and was wondering if anyone here could give me the ipa in Standard Arabic for the Universal Declaration Of Human Right's first article. يولد جميع الناس أحراراً متساوين في الكرامة والحقوق. وقد وهبوا عقلاً وضميراً وعليهم ان يعامل بعضهم بعضاً بروح اﻹخاء. ...

Re: Common sound changes that have resulted in non allophoni

Where you'd get /ɴ/ from is another good question if we're going down that root. As Dezinaa points out in an earlier post, /ŋg/ could lead to to /ŋ/, and going down a similar root, /ɴ/ could come from /ɴɢ/, which could be an allophonic realisation of /nɢ/. The /ɢ/ there could come from post-nasal v...

Common sound changes that have resulted in non allophonic ŋ

/n/ to /ŋ/ seems like the most obvious but what are some other common ones?
