Re: (C&C) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here
I had the idea that Vrkhazhian military (and civilian travellers) would use goggles and a facemask in order to endure sandstorms. But what materials would be good for them to be made of in a society with 4th century AD technology? Something like bone or wood for the goggles maybe? Cloth would work ...

Re: The Carrion Series, an Overview
And never fear the spectre of a "wall of text" being a Bad Thing. On the contrary, the details are very interesting! You may live to regret that. :P Well, that's the new name for the Mej decided: Plural male and mixed: Mjū’ta [mjɤ˦.tɐ˨]. Singular male: ‘Úta [ʔɤ˧˦.tɐ˨]). Plural female: Mjē...

Re: The Carrion Series, an Overview
OK, so the first post has officially hit 'wall of text' proportions and I have another 2,000 words or so on the Maxna that haven't been tenuously finalised yet...
I think I'll need to add some illustrations or something to break it up and make it look pretty.

Re: Ive been bashed alot for not being fluent in IPA....
There may be other reasons? I ended up learning it because I found the easiest way to transcribe larger pieces of text into IPA was to use this converter . I just type the sentence as X-SAMPA into it and then no longer have to worry about combining diacritics, unicode, or copy and pasting a few hun...

I would also point out that most real world symbols are either really obvious shapes (crosses, swastikas), representative of something else (Pisces' symbol, arrows, wheels) or have evolved from other shapes from the previous categories (most letters). Don't feel bad about re-purposing most real worl...

Re: [WoTS] The Climate Thread
I have recently noticed that I have no ideas for at least two continents on the current map. Also, some areas I do have ideas for are not optimal for what I envision. As a result, I am thinking about modifying the map, and I have decided to not work on the climate until I am done with this. That's ...

The Skinwalker tries its hand at some poetry: Zedata So delicate, your skin... It rips as I force my own way in. Your face, a mask; your hands, my gloves. You long to scream but I bite my tongue. Human nerves now run with fire; I can feel again, red pain through ire! But illusions fade... glamours d...

Alive. As for domesticated...? Her head falls off her shoulders to the ground in a spray of blood. In a single movement, my uncle whipped out his sword and beheaded her without a moment's hesitation. I watched the light in my eyes fade as she died, and the spirit's body turned into a shadow and fad...

"Because the Human is the superior species, at least in sheer numbers. Some would suggest we are some gods' (plural) chosen creative forms," Arash-Hijunu spoke, in a metallic, resonant voice. The man perks up when he hears this. "That would depend on the god, and on the human, wouldn...

Re: Growl phonation
It sounds like the distortion's happening around the pharynx area, so it's not growling as I tend to think of it (as a metalhead). I get the impression that harsh voice describes false chord distortion, making it laryngeal in 'articulation', which is different to this. I can't say for sure though; m...

The Barkeep smiles smugly: - There is no menu - he says. This place is where the minds of gods and demiurges cross. Your drink can turn out to be poison or ambrosia. I was inspired by the also long Galbatorix of Eragon... Clearly, a Galbatorix is a female Galbator. Clearly, a Galbator is one who Galbates. What "Galb" means, and what "to Galbate" means, I have no idea. A female Galbator would clearly be a Galbatrix. No o there. Tut-tut, eldin...
