Re: (EE) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here
Just a quick question which has just sprung to my attention; is the future of the CBB secure? http://www.aveneca.com/ just brings up a blank page, which leads me to wonder if this could ever share the same fate?

Nope. Never was, hasn't been, isn't and will not be [secure]Frislander wrote:Just a quick question which has just sprung to my attention; is the future of the CBB secure? http://www.aveneca.com/ just brings up a blank page, which leads me to wonder if this could ever share the same fate?

On the topic of asking questions about the forum:
What relation does the CBB have to the ZBB?

None, as far as I know, other than that they're both conlanging/conwolrding forums.GamerGeek wrote:On the topic of asking questions about the forum:

Edit: Also, some people are members of both.

The CBB is the ZBB with the following sound change:
z > s / #_
z > s / #_

Aszev hasn't mentioned anything, so for now I wouldn't worry too much. If it ever looks like the CBB is going to go away I'm sure Aszev would let us knowFrislander wrote:Just a quick question which has just sprung to my attention; is the future of the CBB secure? http://www.aveneca.com/ just brings up a blank page, which leads me to wonder if this could ever share the same fate?
As others have said, barring the subject matter of both boards and a somewhat shared membership, not much. I seem to recall someone saying that Aszev had said (or possibly just that Aszev said) that the creation of the CBB wasn't influenced or prompted by anything to do with the ZBB.GamerGeek wrote:On the topic of asking questions about the forum:

You can tell the same lie a thousand times,
But it never gets any more true,
So close your eyes once more and once more believe
That they all still believe in you.
Just one time.

So close your eyes once more and once more believe
That they all still believe in you.
Just one time.

If it ever came down to it, I think it could be made secure by transferring it to the LCS. The (language invention related) websites they host will be made available in perpetuity. So long as glossopoets from around the world see fit to continue supporting the organization!qwed117 wrote:Nope. Otherwise, no. Nothing online is secure or permanent. Except for those dreadful pictures of 1970s office parties, school pranks and sexties that just will not ever go away!
Re: (EE) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here
How did the CBB become popular?
Re: (EE) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here
I'm pretty much with Axiem on this one. Whatever the CBB did, it did well enough to get people to stick around.GamerGeek wrote:How did the CBB become popular?
Generally speaking, I think it's because the CBB is friendly without being boring or free from allowing discussion, and there's a fair amount of feedback from multiple users in multiple threads.

Re: (EE) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here
The forum isn't going anywhere, as far as I'm concerned. As for the front page, I deleted it in a slight overreaction to seeing some of my maps being copypasted out of context to other sites for the Xth time. Also some of the other content was quite old and bad, and I'd been thinking about taking it down earlier.sangi39 wrote:Aszev hasn't mentioned anything, so for now I wouldn't worry too much. I confirm this.sangi39 wrote:As others have said, barring the subject matter of both boards and a somewhat shared membership, not much. Re: (EE) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here
So I occasionally click on the link near the top right corner of the board that says "View unread posts" to see if there are any new threads, but when I did this a few minutes ago, I saw that there were a lot of new posts in threads I had subscribed to that I hadn't gotten e-mail notifications about. Has anyone experienced something similar? Does anyone know what the problem might be? Currently I'm just unsubscribing and then resubscribing to a bunch of threads that I didn't get notifications for.
Edit: Unsubscribing and resubscribing does not work, apparently.

Re: (EE) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here
I went under "User Control Panel" to make sure none of my settings on the board were the cause of this problem, and everything seems to be in order there. I'll try checking the settings on my e-mail account. The last e-mail I got from the CBB was more than two days ago now.shimobaatar wrote:So I occasionally click on the link near the top right corner of the board that says "View unread posts" to see if there are any new threads, but when I did this a few minutes ago, I saw that there were a lot of new posts in threads I had subscribed to that I hadn't gotten e-mail notifications about. How come i can't figure out how to create an account on the ZBB? Whenever i type markrose@zompist.com, it leads back to the zompist home page.

Re: (EE) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here
That's an email address. You send an email asking for a secret code, I believe.
Re: (EE) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here
I'm aware of that, but the only information provided is to use markrose@zompist.com. The website doesn't offer a working email address.Dormouse559 wrote:That's an email address. You send an email asking for a secret code, I believe.

How do you know the email isn't working? In your first post, you talk about the email as if it's supposed to take you somewhere, which I don't understand.
