Re: "General West Germanic"
I have been thinking about a deep french-like orthography for the medieval germanic languages, you could fairly easily spell old norse and anglo-saxon in an archaic state like proto-norse.
Umlaut and other sound changes would be predictavle through pronounciation rules.
So dōmjan would be read as /dø:ma/ or /de:man/ or /touman/.

Re: "General West Germanic"
Why would we need that when we already have Pan-Germanic logograms?
Re: "General West Germanic"
Considering that most West Germanic languages don't have /θ ð/ it probably wouldn't be a good idea to have those if you're aiming for an auxlang.
I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing.
Re: "General West Germanic"
If I understand correctly, the goal wasn't to make an auxlang, but rather a unifying deep orthography.Sḿtuval wrote:Considering that most West Germanic languages don't have /θ ð/ it probably wouldn't be a good idea to have those if you're aiming for an auxlang.

Re: "General West Germanic"
The OP says "Orthography or language" which are extremely different things, so it's kind of hard to tell what the goal is.

Re: "General West Germanic"
Maybe I misinterpreted it (I only saw the part that said "language"), but you'd expect a thread about a West Germanic orthography to show how the listed sounds are actually transcribed.Adarain wrote:If I understand correctly, the goal wasn't to make an auxlang, but rather a unifying deep orthography.
