Damn. Seems as there is some rendering error indeed. Sorry, I have understood you incorrectly at first.

The word should look like that:

But what you see is that:

Right? What browser do you use, if I may ask?
Wipe the glass. This is the usual way to start, even in the days, day and night, only a happy one.

None too shabby for a first stab as a beginner of :lat: ! [:)]

There are lots of directions to take with this, since :lat: has a bunch of words for fear, sorrow and hole.
But, using these vocab up here, I might make a few suggestions to tighten it up a bit.

1) in the last line esse...non patimini is a bit clunky. Fortunately, :lat: has been a legal lang for millenia, so there are a few stock phrases that are used for prohibitions. They pretty much all are either negtive imperatives, or negative subjunctives.

So, instead of esse...non patimini, we'll import ne liceat, which is a general "it shouldn't be allowed", or "Don't let it be allowed" or "May it not be allowed". The general prohibitive has the sense of a general warning to anyone who hears.

It usually goes first, and it's complimentary infinitive usually goes last, so the reworking might go something like :

Ne liceat cavum in mundo cras esse

Additionally, the 'esse' at the end has the /e/ which echoes the final /e/ in nocte, maerorisque.
Romans weren't all that enthused about assonance and rhyme in heavy poetry (more Medieval/Modern influence on the lang), but hey, since it's a song, why not?

2) Now, when I saw the /e..a/ in liceat, I thought to myself, "wow, maybe we can alliterate at the front each line as well? Well, we can.

If we substitute erat for est, you get a nice beginning of line assonance: so

Erat cavum in mundō hāc nocte,
Erat nūbēs pavōris maerōrisque,
Erat cavum in mundō hāc nocte,
Ne liceat cavum in mundo cras esse.

Erat, being the past, kind of gives a "morning after" perspective to the whole thing, which is in thematic keeping with the Eagles oeuvre.

Another thought just popped into my head: You could also use nequeat "May it not be able", "It should not be able (to)", as the first word in the last line,if Ne liceat is too long a phrasing.

Ergo:

Erat cavum in mundō hāc nocte,
Erat nūbēs pavōris maerōrisque,
Erat cavum in mundō hāc nocte,
Nequeat cavum in mundo cras esse.

There are so many directions to go, so take my suggestions cum grano salis.

Yep, that's what I see. And I DEFINITELY wouldn't have noticed anything odd about the first one. My brain just goes "cool, a mass of Devanagari...I think".

I'm using a borrowed iPad at the moment, so, regrettably, I'm using Safari.

Pé nespos. Griz is the word for "world".
