Is it descended from a word that's attested in Biblical Gothic?

It is.

A slight hint...earlier the question was "Is it a noun?" to which I said, "Yes." Perhaps, I should amend that to say "It is used as a noun, yes."

No. But it could function as an adjective as well, I suppose.

Heh, I was trying to "back off", so to speak, to give someone else a chance to guess, but it looks like that's not going to happen, so I'll just get back to it.

Is it a present participle?

Haha, yeah...it kinda takes the wind out of it with only two people, huh?

Yes, it is.

No, the prefix is the same as the prefix from my previous word.

I suppose I should have guessed there was a prefix.

Huh, I'm a little stumped. Did the root have an initial s- in Biblical Gothic?

Yes.

EDIT: well it started with an s- but it's part of an initial cluster in Gothic.
