hungry NEG choose food
When you're hungry, you don't choose your food. or When you're hungry, you can't be picky.

Note that this idiom follows the usual format for Chinese idioms, where it is in Classical Chinese and is restricted to either four characters or two sets of four characters, so it is very different from and much more concise than how it would be phrased in the modern vernacular.

:con: Ular

饥不择食。
Vŭ ŭ ngā thō.

hunger NEG.INAN choose food
In famine not choose food

Note that 饥不择食 is directly derived from Mandarin Chinese and doesn't make grammatical sense in Ular: 饥 actually means "famine", 不 is not used before verbs in Ular, and 食 is a very high-register word for food. The common word is 吃物 (tŭrhngàm). Plus, the word order is OVS so actually an Ular would literally read "The food doesn't choose the famine" or "In the famine, food does not choose itself", which do - indeed - also sound nice.
