Re: Language practice thread
En lisant un livre de poésie française, j'ai trouvé un poème dont j'ai lu la traduction anglaise il y a des années au lycée.
While reading a book of French poetry, I found a poem whose English translation I'd read years ago in high school.
J'ignorais alors que c'était originairement en français.
I didn't know then it was originally in French.
Maintenant, je sais que mes professeurs d'anglais avaient du bon goût.
Now I know that my English teachers had good taste.

Oui, c'est dificile. Il y a douze vies pour representé, douze personalités pour encapsulé. C'est beaucoup.
Yes, it's difficult. There's twelve lives to represent, twelve personalities to encapsulate. It's difficult.

Hm... he comenzado dibujar la TARDIS (la primera versión de 1963) y los zapatos del *primer Doctor.
Y quiero ver el programa especiál hoy, pero, porque vivo en Alemania, no puedo ver BBC 1/2, solo BBC world... Tengo que esperar por el internet...
Hmm... I began drawing the TARDIS (the original version from 1963) and the shoes of the *first Doctor.
And I want to watch the special today, but, because I live in Germany, I can't receive BBC 1/2, only BBC world... I've got to wait for the internet...

Mes ressources indiquent qu'« encapsuler » ne représente pas une bonne traduction d'« encapsulate ».ol bofosh wrote:Oui, c'est difficile. Il y a douze viespourà représenter, douze personnalitéspourà encapsuler. C'est beaucoup.

My resources say that "encapsuler" isn't a good translation for "encapsulate".
Mais j'ai des difficultés à trouver un autre choix qui convient.
But I'm having trouble finding a good alternative.
Je pense que « résumer » et « comprendre » sont les meilleures options que j'ai trouvées.
I think "résumer" and "comprendre" are the best choices I've found.
EDIT: fixing a typo

Oui, ça marche. J'essayais de traduire trop littéralement.
Yes, that works. I was trying to translate too literally.

But isn't there another option to not repeat the word "représenter"?

Peut-être : « douze vies et personnalités à représenter » ?
Maybe: "douze vies et personnalités à représenter"?
