I prefer to not be referred to with masculine pronouns and nouns such as “he/him/his”.

Makes me think of the poor American Chestnut tree.
I hope that a robust combo of genetic crossing/splicing.CRISPring with the Asian Chestnut can renew vigour in its feeble boughs, and once more make it a crown of 'Murican Woods.
What were we talking about, again?
Oh yeah.
I me the roasted chestnuts.

A funny irony is that hoja vital is used on the 'Net to describe veg like spinach and endive, but it is also another name for the hoja de vida which is a standard form which includes important personal data, for job recruitment purposes.

Re: We are the last live leaves of the dying tree
Sorry I took so long to respond.
Why all the 'musting', indeed.
Well, as I understand it on reflection, it seems that the Rozwis understand that since the tree is dying, as all things die, it therefore has to die.
Conversely, as long as there is life within the tree, those living parts have to live for as long as they are able.
I think it's a kind of double-entendre of the Future Passive Participle. In Rozwi, it is used to convey simple futurity "on the point of…ing", "about to be …". But they also use the FUT.PASS.PTCP to show necessity in a gerundival sort of way
"that has to be…ing", "that must be…ing".
At its kernel, the use of this kind of participle works for the tree, because a dying tree is, at an future point, about to die (simple futurity). Also, since it is clearly a tree living in such an enfeebled state, it also cannot but die (necessity).
IMHO, the participle describing the the tree is attracted into the FUT.PASS.PTCP form, but could be rendered with the PRS.ACT.PTCP .
Hmm. Thanks for asking.
