The distinction between wanting (DESIDERATIVE) and needing (OBLIGATIVE) is slightly blurred and somewhat different from English in Vanga, and has much to do with the nature, or importance, of the goal for which something is wanted/needed.

In the case of the sentences of this TC, the first two may or may not both be covered by the desiderative. Consider the following:

The first one might be used when one really needs money, for example to pay the rents lest one wishes to be thrown out on the street.
