Make Love
Make Love
Just a random translation challange I didn't see anyone else have up yet.
There are so many ways to put the act of intercourse into words, but how do your people say it? Is it "making love" or "having sex" or do they have more than one way to say it? Is there the "scientific term" or a more romantic way?
We all know this is our favorite topic. ;) So have fun!!!

Re: Make Love
In Rinki;
Metapta - to have sex, literally means to use the flesh
Mestotapta - to fuck, with an added intensifier infix
Mestotaptana - to rape, literally to make someone fuck
On side note;
kiŋapto - to mastabate, for both men and women
kistoŋapto - to wank, jack off, again vulagrisms are made by using the intensifier unfix

Re: Make Love
In Swedish, you can use the same word as 'to love', simply ('älska'), but it's not directly transitive in the sexual sense, but requires a preposition, 'med', which means 'with'. So one can "love with someone" in Swedish.

Re: Make Love
This is one of the verbs I'm using to experiment with the effects of various oblique cases used with intransitive verbs. I'm using '-Ukfae-' as a humorous place-holder until I come up with a decent-sounding alternative, by the way.

Man had sex using woman. Extremely rude - this usage would fit well with gangster rap. On this one you can also replace vemigon/kergon with the name of the person - though this is colloquially uncommon
This one can either refer to small activities such as 'making out' or it can extend to include s*xual intercourse

Re: Make Love
I'll keep it simple and formal in Vanga for now.
jǽwaisau‹›tt-
jǽ‹›Ø-a‹›jw-sa‹›j-U‹›tt-
to lay down (get in sleeping position) together
be_one/together-to_sleep-be_located-INIT-
[ˈjæːwɑɪ̯z̻ɑʊ̯tː]
Boring for anglophones, but in my native language, 'sleep together/with' does not have a sexual connotation, so I still find these semantics interesting; also, Vanga doesn't handle it in the exact same way, since this just means to get located/positioned in a way that would imply sleep (that is, lying down, probably on a bed). This would be very phrasal, of course, and would be used even if the act is not performed while lying down.
For obvious reasons, the most common usage would be with the dual number:
jǽwaisautthah
jǽ‹›Ø-a‹›jw-sa‹›j-U‹›tt-h-w=Ah
they (both) are positioning themselves for sleep* together
[ˈjæːwɑɪ̯z̻ɑʊ̯tː.hɑħ]~[ˈjæːwɑɪ̯z̻ɑʊ̯tː.ʕɑħ]
In this usage, the prefix jǽ- can be dropped. It is understood that the act is carried out together by the two participants mentioned; otherwise would have to be explicitly stated or clarified.
* Thus not really a euphemism for sex, but a description of the very act of lying down itself. The sex is not hinted at by any replacements for the word itself.

I know I've mentioned this before but I still find it amusing.
The first verb is samal. It is used for man on top sex.
Esem apja.
e-sem apʲa
3m-sex.PST 3f.ABS
"He had sex with her."
The second is atjural. It is used for woman on top sex. It is considered the more neutral of the two. (So if you don't know you'd use this one.)

Re: Make Love
Vtain must have some more brutal terms for sex but I haven't made them yet.
The persons in these examples are: Kuhla and Naska. Let's suppose hetero-normatively that Kuhla is male and Nasga is female. 'erd' could mean gay sex, too, but it is not accepted in Vtain culture.
The root "erd" is close to the meaning of "make love" though it does not contain the word love.
Kuhla Naska erdi.
K N make.love-PRS
'Kuhla and Naska are making love.'
The intensive form with a voiceless end of the stem would mean "to have hard sex". This could actually be a more brutal word.
Kuhla Naska erti.
K N have.hard.sex-PRS
'Kuhla and Naska are having hard sex/fucking.'
"erd" is an intransitiv verb, so it needs a plural/group/several subject(s). 'X has sex with Y' is not possible to say.
'to masturbate' is the reflexive of "erd". The reflexive is formed by adding both anti-passive and passive affixes.
Naska äerdäni
N ä-erd-än-i
['naska ɐ'ʔerdɐni]
N ANTIP-make.love-PASS-PRS
Naska is masturbating.
Coitus is expressed very analytically 'to have penis in vagina' (sk- 'to be inside' is transitive)

Re: Make Love
These are some terms in Selvesco. Men have a more developed set of informal vocabulary for this topic than women, in that a woman could only say two of the informal phrases with herself as subject and sound natural.
Scientific/Formal: Used by scientists, lawyers, politicians, and the like
participár ali coito*/a relaczonis sesczuás (con) = to engage in intercourse/sexual relations (with)
No participé a relaczonis sesczuás con cel fém.

I did not have sexual relations with that woman.
* Coito also happens to be the past participle for cuír "to cook". A very formal alternative to the past participle, cuïdo, has developed to avoid that, but coito meaning "cooked" is still used in casual situations.
Neutral: Used in mainstream media, such as newspapers and TV shows

Re: Make Love
In Karathe (Salthan):
shidas
shi-da-s
two-one-V
Lit. "To make two one" (more generic/euphimistic term, can also mean "to build, construct", so it can be more vague.)
Shidathas
shi-da-tha-s
Lit. "To make two one then three", and is more directly about having sex. Obviously this is used more in sense of having sex with the obvious goal of procreation, though it may be used as a general/clinical term of having sex, to make more plain as a less ambiguous word than shidas.
Chuts
penis-v
to have sex, or masturbate (males)
Nisis
vagina-v
to have sex, or masterbate (females)
kethshidas
keth-shi-da-s
to stab-two-one-v
vulgar to penetrate two together, to nail two things together. This too has a non-sexual meaning for use in building, but is hardly used anymore, except as vulgar slang, basically equivalent to the f-word.
uls foltunak
ul-s fol-tunak
inside-v trans-seed
To put a seed inside. (Considered somewhat vulgur in most polite conversation, though for example, someone explaining sex this would be perfectly normal, and expected term to use)
Chutshinais (??)
chut-shi-nai-s
penis-two-pl-v
Lit. "To have sex (or masterbate) with both penises"
Apparently most lizards have two penises, but I thought that was "too weird" to use (and just opted to have "normal" human genitalia), though I'm wondering if it isn't unrealistic/weird to NOT have a species that evolves from reptiles to have this.
gilkeths /gilkethshidas
gil-keth-s
over-cut/penetrate-v / over-cut/penetrate-two-one-v
To rape, to forcefully have sex.
shidas

penis-v
to have sex, or masturbate (males)
Nisis
vagina-v
to have sex, or masterbate (females)
kethshidas
keth-shi-da-s
to stab-two-one-v
vulgar to penetrate two together, to nail two things together.

Re: Make Love
Every language has its own set of slang terms for intercourse. These are often informal and can range from playful to vulgar. In English, for instance, there are numerous slang terms, each with its own connotation and level of acceptabilitykingdemon wrote: ↑25 Nov 2012 16:34 Just a random translation challange I didn't see anyone else have up yet.

To my American Standard English trained ears, it sound weird to divide sexual acts into exactly two categories, depending just on who’s on top!Ossicone wrote: ↑20 Dec 2012 23:51 I know I've mentioned this before but I still find it amusing.
Iratjur epa.
ir-atjur epa
3f-sex.PST 3m.ABS
"She had sex with him."
…
What about sex between a man and someone who isn’t a woman?
Or sex between a woman and someone who isn’t a man?
Do your conspeakers have little or no need to speak of those?
