Hmmmm . . . I have an idea. Maybe disqualify computer-generated relexes of a wordlist/vocabulary if they are created for the express purpose of having huge lexica? That'd disqualify Mmavvii, and it would keep someone from piggybacking onto my Kankonian lexicon to create a conlang with even more words than Kankonian.Arayaz wrote: ↑28 Mar 2024 01:40One could simply disallow relexes. I honestly feel that Classical Yiklamu shouldn't count either.Khemehekis wrote: ↑27 Mar 2024 23:02Any idea for how to rewrite the criteria so as to exclude Mmavvii?Arayaz wrote: ↑26 Mar 2024 14:52 Wait, each one has *one* Toki Pona definition? I thought the person was just a hardcore Toki Pona fan and defined all their words in Toki Pona for fun. If it's a randomly generated relex, congratulations revoked. I suggest we update the requirements of the FrathWiki page.
Perhaps one could require distinctive grammar of the language; i.e. something doesn't count if it's only a lexicon/wordlist. (Could be too extreme?) Or the rule related to unmodified computer-generated outputs could be extended.

Re: Lexicon milestones and discussion of lexicon growth
On February 26, 2024, I reached the 85,000-word milestone, meaning I would be obligated to reach the 87,500-word milestone by February 26, 2025.
Well, I've already reached it. I added all the words from my Mensinghi file to my Kankonian dictionary (well, I added their Kankonian translations, but you know what I mean), and while I was at it, I crossed the 87,500-word mark with Lama Lamik, meaning "Lama Laman", as in from Lama Lama, one of the 53 provinces of Mensinghi.
Kankonian now has words for things like "king consperm" and "queen conove" -- yes, and "lesbian consort".

Re: Lexicon milestones and discussion of lexicon growth
Today I came up with the concept of tyashusial orientation for the Lehola Galaxy. Tyashus is the Ciladian word for "race", and it's used in modern Kankonian to mean what species of sapient someone is (human, Grey, Domehead, ilti, lef, wama, etc.) (The Kankonian word for "race", yaramoshi, translates as "island-ancestry" = continent-ancestry and means race like Caucasian, Black, Asian, etc. for Terrans. Shtakuf means a race in fantasy fiction, so the shtakufes in Tolkien were Elves, Dwarves, Orcs, Trolls, etc.) So while sexual orientation refers to what gender someone is attracted to, tyashusial orientation refers to what tyashus someone is attracted to. Someone who is attracted to humans (whether s/he is human him- or herself or not) is anthroposexual, someone who is attracted to Greys is delphimosexual, someone who is attracted to Domeheads is domocephalosexual, and so on.
I created over 100 words for the various tyashusial orientations:
While I was making this list, tlokwakhaili, the word for "tlokwosexual", became word #87,654 in Kankonian, so I hit another milestone. Yay!
The next few milestones coming up are 88,888; 90,000; 91,011; and 91,592 (the point at which Kankonian will overtake Classical Yiklamu in size).

Interesting. Are interspecies relationships uniformly accepted in the Lehola Galaxy, or are there some cultures where they're frowned upon, or forbidden?
Also, congrats in hitting your milestone! I can't imagine hitting 2000 words, let alone tens of thousands. Your work is really impressive.

Re: Lexicon milestones and discussion of lexicon growth
Really socially liberal cultures like the Kankonian or Shaleyan wouldn't have any problem with them . . . the galaxy as a whole when it comes to tyashusial orientation is much like a macrocosm of the U.S., circa 2000, on sexual orientation. Some people believe it's shockingly immoral to have an interspecies relationship, others believe it's really backwards and fascist NOT to be accepting of interspecies relationships.
Some conservative Lehola cultures, such as the Kebsabhazian, view other tyashas as freaks of nature. So a conservative Kebsabhazian father discovering his pacham daughter is dating a Grey or human boy would be like a conservative American father discovering his daughter is dating a punk with three septum rings and green hair.
Awwwwww, thanks! And you were right on target about the significance of the number 91,011.Also, congrats in hitting your milestone! I can't imagine hitting 2000 words, let alone tens of thousands. Your work is really impressive.

Re: Lexicon milestones and discussion of lexicon growth
Spiders, Vosem Chart users, pianists, and Thomas Jefferson rejoice: I have just reached word #88,888 in Kankonian! My word was shuyeslavambio, meaning "architexture". It comes from shuyes (across) and lavambio (work, as in a work of art), since an architexture is a theme that spans an artist's entire oeuvre.

My conlang, Hi'im, just reached 50 words! 50th word is ten̆ /teŋ/, which means "world".

Re: Lexicon milestones and discussion of lexicon growth
Heh, I remember when I first saw the title of your Hi'im thread. I misread it as "Hi, I'm a conlang!"
Surprised ten̆ is the fiftieth word and not the tenth word.
Anyway, congratulations. It looks as if you notched your first milestone. May you have many more: 100 words, 200, 300, 500, 1,000, 1,200, 1,500, 2,000, and beyond.
In any event, I reached 90,000 words in Kankonian a few minutes ago. That's ninety thousand!
Word #90,000, was Pauti*uthis, the name for a city in the Kankonian continent of Povoi. The asterisk represents a velar lateral, and in "good" publications I write it as an L with a slash through it. Pauti*uthis is a kind of linguistically-mixed name for a city, like the English word "television". Pauti is the Povoian word for "tapir", while *uthis is the Kankonian word for "city" (Kankonian being a descendant of the ancient Tze*ethik language from the continent of Hegheos).
If possession is nine tenths of the law, I am being possessed by the drive to beat Mmavvii, being nine-tenths of the way to the 100,000-word mark. Not to toot my own horn, but Kankonian is way more interesting than that computer-generated Toki Pona relex that Imjustadudeontheinternet whipped up.
I celebrated my milestone by drinking an oat-milk dark chocolate brownie Frappuccino!

My conlang Hi'im reached 100 words! 100th word is sf, which means "to grow". Also, it's 8th basic root. (yes, 100 words on 8 roots!)

Re: Lexicon milestones and discussion of lexicon growth
Just realized that I reached word #90,210 -- as in Beverly Hills! The word was blumia, meaning "bindery, bookbindery". Blum is a verb meaning "to bind", like binding books, and -ia is a suffix for place words, including Kankonia itself (unlike the Indo-European suffix -ia, though, it's frequently used on common nouns, too: cannabis club, for instance, is falishia).

Re: Lexicon milestones and discussion of lexicon growth
Kankonian has reached the milestone of 91,011 words. That's 9-10-11 words.
Word #91,011 was Bristo, meaning "Bristo", as in the square in Edinburgh. And to balance it out, I created Aochalli (in Kankonian, Autshalli), a square in the Durbenian city of Ambrao. Ambrao and Aochalli are both Disque words. So I have 91,012 now.
