Well, it sort of works this way . . . once I realize my dictionary doesn't have a word for "astrolabe", I can't rest until my dictionary has a word for "astrolabe".tev wrote: How do you get so many words?
Are you sitting at home and think about new words? ;-)

Re: Lexicon milestones
I have found that the best way to really get new words is by closely translating parts of novels and the like. Also I use a Italian-Dutch phrasebook which I once found in the local library, with over 3000 colloquial expressions. I fear this library phrasebook has only one reader (me) - most of the time it is on my desk and not on the library shelf. It works fine for me.
I continue working on my dictionary, several times each week. It is a two-way dictionary Dutch-Vayardese and the Vayardese entries number up to about 7.800 words (guess)

Yeah, its tedious and tiresome at times, but rewarding. Once you have a two-way dictionary you can check and double-check your own work so much better. :-Ptev wrote:I should also have a two way dictionary, but im afraid of the work ;-)

Re: Lexicon milestones
Hapoish reached its 2,000th word with "ihito" (be supposed to). That makes my third language to reach the 2,000 mark.

What are you saying? That girls don't compare penis sizes? So all those movies are wrong?xingoxa wrote:A little bit. But this thread is better, because girls can partake too.roninbodhisattva wrote:Is it just me or is this thread a lot like comparing penis sizes?

Re: Lexicon milestones
According to the PCP2.0 (Phallic Comparison Primer, 2nd edition):
1. All matters could — however arbitrarily — be viewed as phallic in nature, as soon as a discourse enters comparative mode (as described in section 2.1.1).
2. In order to more accurately evaluate the size of each penis, a conversion table (pages 69-77) from X ➔ plu (penile length unit) may be employed.

Would not using the 'ctrl+f' function on Wordpad for a one-way dictionary not suffice? :PYagia1 wrote:Yeah, its tedious and tiresome at times, but rewarding. What would be the point? Nobody's going to put anything in that's as big as what will come out if nature takes its course.Milyamd wrote:Could girls compare their, erm, depths?

Re: Lexicon milestones
I'm also working on a two-way dictionary on Lurioneski in Word. I want to be able to print it out and take it with me, so there are a lot of 'see' tags. It's a bit of a hassle useing hidden text, bolding and unbolding, etc, but I'm making steady progress each time I work on it (which isn't often).
At the moment, I've done 330 lemmas from my original file (out of 920), resulting in around 400 items Lur-to-Eng and 490 items Eng-to-Lur.
