Cute Galaxy (Commentary and Collaboration Encouraged)

A science fantasy setting. Ideas and commentary are encouraged.
If anyone guesses why i called it Cute Galaxy they get nothing but my gratitude.

Basics of the Setting: A magical galaxy with well magic (and lots of cool sci-fi technology). Possibly includes humans somewhere in a rather contemporary setting but having colonised the whole of the solar system.

Neko Homestar: Licio
Originally centered on a homeworld called Loom they sundered into various cultures and having lost much interplanetary communication by the time they were again united under a central religious tenant based around matriarchal egalitarianism and not using force except when absolutely necessary. Political power is mainly democratic and sometimes theocratic (or theocratic mixed with democracy) although there is technically only one party (which may be composed of many factions) ever since the banishment of the so called Dark Side something which would be near mythical if it didn’t keep resurging in far of distant places allied with various evil alien empires. The main area of Neko inhabitation is known as the Sea of Stars and forms the western center of the Galactic Federation. Neko have unique or nearly unique magical signatures which allow them to be identified and also interface with much of their technology.

Itachi Homestar: Aurum
A species of diminutive weasel like creatures who are the original founders of the organisation which would become the Galactic Federation. They originally meant to trade and exchange information between many species as well as technology which they have unique ability to hack, use and repurpose using Psychic powers to achieve so. They generally act as intermediary species and hold a unique rank on the Galactic Federation just below founder race.

Inu Homestar: Unknown but officially Socius
Another relatively small species who are most notable for their ability to empathetically bond with the Psychic resonance of others, animals or machines or in less savoury cases even force others to do things or put them under servitude. They sundered into various worlds and are still in a state of relative disunity in the Eastern Reach.

Foxforms Homestar: Clara
Quadrupedal sapient most notable for A not reproducing via intercourse but B having 4 distinct biological sexes. By time they were contacted they had already ascended to kardashev 2 status and their main religion was at this point focused on machine enlightenment using technology to empower onesselves. Despite this they were just barely able to colonise surrounding star systems by the time they were contacted and instead poured most of their effort into various supercomputers and other technology. They became friendly with the Neko due to considering them other minds and serve as one of the founding races of the Galactic Federation. They also can’t produce human speech sounds but instead rely on various fox or coyote-like sounds to communicate.

As mentioned above Foxforms are divided into 4 genders known as Type A, B, C and D and the Neko equivalent by the Galactic Federation. For convenience we will term them FF, FM, MF and MM.

In general 3 of the 4 sexes must be present to reproduce although having all 4 is somewhat encouraged which is done by placing egg-like structures known in English as Ovums together into a container. Up to 12 contributing parents can contribute to such things known as Nidums and you generally get a number of children between half and equal to the amount of parents. Rather counterintuitively if you lack one of the 4 sexes you will end up getting an excess number of them when the Nidum hatches, this probably evolved because if you are lacking in one of the sexes you might want to produce more of them. In general for all of them to make a Nidum they have to undergo what is termed by humans as Eros.

Type FF (A)
Usually referred to in English by she/her pronouns. Type FFs possess an anus and a “vagina” from which they urinate, lactate and create Ovums which is begun by french kissing and usually takes about a season to achieve although there are now drugs which speed it up. After being made they begin to decay after about a month. Genetically they possess two female chromosomes and are referred to as Wifdams when parents. In primitive society they usually gathered but sometimes fulfilled a role of a priestess especially in the orthodox faiths

Type FM (B)
Morphologically these possess the larger ears and tails, facial shape and greater size of type MMs and are, depending on the genetics, even larger which is generally true of the populations of Halfwinter and other areas where the orthodox religion is established but possess the same set of genitalia as type FF’s although they don’t lactate. They generally functioned as guards for the Nidums/Children and not usually as soldiers except for religious ones. They are also the most popular to watch in combat sports although this used to be considered sinful. In areas which have only 2 sets of pronouns they generally go by the same pronouns as type FFs although some regions would use the pronouns as Type MM’s and on a genetic level they possess one male and one female chromosome with an activated male gene. They also possess a small nub between their anus and vagina which could be called a Clitoris and functions as a vestigial penis. They are referred to as Weredams when parents and they produce eggs within one month which is begun by rubbing their anus or clitoris.

Type MF (C)
Morphologically more similar to type FFs although even smaller and with generally rounder ears. They lactate from their mouths (although both type FF’s and type FM’s can do this but they usually don’t) and possess an anus, a penis from which they urinate and a Cloaca from which they form Ovums which are created after one month and is begun by sucking on their penis. They are referred to as Wifsires. They generally gathered in primitive society and usually fulfill the role of combat healers at least according to orthodoxy. Genetically they possess a male and female chromosome along with an unactivated male gene.

Type MM (D)
Morphologically similar to type FM’s but with the genitalia of type MFs usually with even longer ears/tail and possibly larger. They generally hunted and are the most popular gender to watch in non-combat sports. They are referred to as Weresires and unlike other genders produce a sort of batter on demand from their Cloaca. Genetically they possess two male chromosomes along with an activated male gene.

Type NM (F)
Morphologically similar to type MM’s they however generally grow even larger. They are unfortunately sterile due to possessing two male chromosomes with an unactivated male gene. They are usually identified by having larger ears and tails at birth, are usually firstborn, more likely to be stillborn and generally don’t grow as well as having shorter ears and tails once they sexually mature.

Type NF (G)
Even rarer than type NMs they are usually larger than FFs when fully grown and also sterile due to possessing two female chromosomes with an activated male gene. It is difficult to tell them apart from Type FFs at birth but they are usually identified by their behaviour during puberty as well as inability to lactate.

Fabled enemy of the current political climate of the Neko’s intertwined political and religious spheres. The Alliance (the political side) opposes it because it’s a threat to their power and also because it goes against their communal, egalitarian and democratic principles as well as its usage of negative magic, tendency to start wars and overall tyrannicalism. The Bright Way (yes i stole that from the lonely galaxy) opposes it for all these reasons but also because it doesn’t seek to live in harmony with Starmaker’s creation and general blasphemy against Bright Way ritual, philosophy and practice. The Dark Side has surfaced a number of times since the original war against it a hundred thousand years ago before the Bright Way even emerged with its divine command of interstellar harmony. The head political office backed by the theocracy is even named after the original Alliance to defeat the first tyrant of the Dark Side. Since then two more major wars have emerged, the second based on members of the Alliance forming a faction to attempt to use Negative Magics for the good of the Neko resulting in them turning to the Dark Side and the third a conflict spanning most of the inhabited galaxy. This war occurred rather recently within five thousand years of humanities contact by the Galactic Federation within the memory of some of the galaxy's longer lived inhabitants.

Marian Ecclesia
The most relevant religion in the Foxforms home system of Clara it emphasises uniting the sphere of minds (unlike say the Bright Way which emphasises interstellar co-operation) and its core goal has been to find other ones and that later gets sublimated into creating other ones. There’s pushback from other groups by the time they are colonising other planets. They also aren’t held by every culture on the planet itself which will simply term Nim (3) which like earth is the 3rd planet in the solar system. They are headed by a Chattevixen and most of the organisation is made up of Chattevixens even in modern times. They have control over the worlds of Halfwinter as well as the world of Snowveil which it conquered although they were up to that point home to a divergent form of the Marian religion. In addition Halfwinter controls parts of Farhome much to the dismay of its citizens although they have laxed on the enforcement of religious rules in recent times. Halfwinter also controls many of the colonies in other systems and is responsible for sending the Starfinder which makes contact with humanity.

Lingua Clericus
So called because it's the holy language of the Marian religion (named as such because of its notion of the sea of minds). Clericus Lingua is the language from which various languages such as the Halfwinter (6) as well as much of Farhome (5), Nearhearth (4), Aquavita (2) and all of Snowveil (7) are derived. Clericus Lingua features heavy relationship with written and spoken variants unlike most other languages of Foxform languages written in logographic script (although it is only done so partly) (also note in general legal and scientific stuff is still handled in partially logographic scripts due to them offering greater clarity).

Mars
Current power of the solar system. Officially it has five languages: American, Spanish, French, German and Swedish but mostly just using American (and certainly not AMVA). It also has numerous minority languages divided into two groups (A) native martian languages and (B) Immigrant languages. While Mars is what most people who aren’t Canadian or Mexican will call it Mars, the planet is technically home to 2 smaller nations both of whose people love to immigrate to the United States of Mars (which depending on who you ask is because they are just looking for a better life or because they are socialist hellholes). Current president is a senile old man up for battle against the orange shadow master. Uniquely amongst earthly democracies fights between two gladiators can count for up to 1% of the electoral vote.

Starfinders and more races
Foxforms are now named Tana after Neko onomatopoeia for their word for friend which happens to align with their word for an animal similar to them (and to a fox).

The english translation of many of the words for interstellar mission vessels first pioneered by the Itachi with help from the Teng (we will get to them later). Their job is to traverse from world to world evaluating it for suitability for terraforming/colonisation and possibly find stuff like runes or lost alien artifacts (the latter usually leaves a distinct trace). Crew size is relatively small on some of them compared to Star Trek ships. Some such as the Morningstar (named after light as all Tana starfinders are) have really small crews just 9 (8 Tana and 1 Neko) which means you could remember all their profiles easily which helps as they are minor celebrities in the solar system being the aliens who first contacted humanity.

Teng
Noted for their prodigal Psychic powers the war between them and the Itachi (known as the Teng wars duh) set the stage for the Galactic Confederation as the Itachi needed allies or else they would lose to their prodigal psychic might. They ever since the last of these have been a core member of galactic cooperation and serve as one of the Founder Races of the Galactic Federation.

Kitsune
Capricious illusionists with the natural ability to pass off as any other race they want. They choose their gender when they reach sexual maturity. They proved a key part in defeating the Teng and serve as a Founder Race of the Galactic Federation.

Albins
Literally just space white people or nordic aliens they maintain their own empire in the South Reach (for comparison earth is located between the Sea of Stars and South Reach). They are noted for their ethereal youthful beauty and nordic features (although they have larger eyes, smoother skin which almost seems to glow and look slightly alien in addition to being a bit taller) as well as the telepathy. They are divided into 3 factions “Whites” who make up the current orthodoxy of their empire who are noted for their social ascedia, charity and somewhat benevolence. “Greens” who are hippies somewhat allied with the Neko although they don’t quite grasp the matriarchal egalitarianism of them as well and the genocidal “Reds” who have their own smaller empire which seeks to exterminate all non-Albin life in the galaxy and who previously controlled the Albin empire.

They also terraformed the other inner planets of the solar system and scattered humans to them as well as creating the Lemuria planet which ended up a failed experiment (although it also serves as a convenient home planet for black people)

Wait, yeah. Sorry, I didn't read through the whole thing. Though in that case, I'm curious about the question Flavia also had ─ isn't the Bright Way also the main yinrih religion?
