Analysis Swap: Hayakan
Analysis Swap: Hayakan
Hayakan is spoken in the Kingdom of Hayaka, a fictional country in our world – so you’d expect them to be familiar with modern technology, etc. The speaker you all will be meeting is from Saltam, the legislative capital and largest city by far, a huge conurbation with a tropical monsoon climate.
You all are talking to Adupheu Yeune Bu, a resident of the Tamesara neighborhood near the center city. She speaks something pretty close to the standard language.
Adupheu: Ruseng dem a yong Hayaka! Ya nakawa Adupheu. Ya dene rikawa ma?

Spoiler:
Ya nakawa Trailsend.
I cup my hand to my ear and lean forward, like I'm struggling to hear.
Ya rikawa...Adupheu, ma?

Re: Analysis Swap: Hayakan
Adupheu smiles at both of you.
Mo yiwaka Hayaka, cintta Trailsend san Maria!
She pauses and then says with a slight apologetic tone:
Salle, ina mo 'Ya rikawa Adupheu, ma?' Na ada 'ya dene rakawa Adupheu?'
Adupheu says: "Ya dene pheida ma?" She pauses for a second. "Le, ma ya pheida?

Re: Analysis Swap: Hayakan
She's wearing western clothes - a white t-shirt and light blue cargo shorts. She's wearing sandals. She has identical pairs of bronze bracelets and anklets, with iridescent yellow beads attached. These bracelets are common as a way of showing membership in a religious group; hers specifically indicate that she's in a society devoted to the goddess Seulibisang, who is the embodiment of lightning and associated with commerce and wealth.

Alright. I point to my sandals and ask — Ya dene pheida ma? — then I point to hers and ask the same thing.Solarius wrote: ↑15 May 2024 02:22 She's wearing western clothes - a white t-shirt and light blue cargo shorts. I use the powers of improvisation to make Trailsend also be wearing sandals, then I point to them and ask ya dene pheida ma.
